Robert L. Beisner holds an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, and has taught at the University of Chicago, Colgate University, and American University, where he was on the history faculty from 1965 to 1998. As head of the Society of Historians of American Foreign Relations Bibliographical Project, Dr. Beisner is the editor of American Foreign Relations since 1600: A Guide to the Literature. He is the author of Twelve Against Empire: The Anti-Imperialists, 1898-1900, and From the Old Diplomacy to the New, 1865-1900.
