Members

Representing a unique wealth of talent, the members of the Academy are a group of over 350 retired senior U.S. ambassadors and top U.S. foreign policy leaders from various U.S. government agencies, all of whom have dedicated their professional careers to diplomacy. They all continue to support the mission of strengthening American diplomacy through their membership at the Academy. New Academy members are elected by current Academy members according to a very rigorous set of criteria and a copmetitive election process. Academy members are not physically located at the Academy's office and many of them continue to engage in various aspects of foreign affairs after their retirement from the U.S. government.

The American Academy of Diplomacy (AAD) is an independent, non-profit association of former senior US ambassadors and high-level government officials whose mission is to strengthen American diplomacy. AAD represents a unique wealth of talent and experience in the practice of American foreign policy, with over 370 members.
