The 34th Annual Awards Luncheon

On November 9th, 2023, the Academy hosted the 34th Annual Awards Luncheon. The program was held at the Benjamin Franklin Diplomatic Reception room at the Department of State and welcomed over 130 guests. The program featured Deputy Secretary for Management and Resources, Ambassador Richard Verma, who spoke to guests about ongoing efforts to strengthen American diplomacy.


The 2023 Awards


The Walter and Leonore Annenberg Award for exemplary contributions to the field of American Diplomacy to Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch.


The Henrietta Fore Award for exemplary contributions to Development to Dr. Peter McPherson.


The Douglas Dillon Book Award for a Book of Distinction on the Practice of American Diplomacy to Steve Kemper’s “Our Man In Tokyo: An American Ambassador and the Countdown to Pearl Harbor.”


The Arthur Ross Media Award for Distinguished Reporting and Analysis of Foreign Affairs to Michele Kelemen of NPR in the category of Reporting.


The Arthur Ross Media Award for Distinguished Reporting and Analysis of Foreign Affairs to Thomas L. Friedman of the New York Times in the category of Commentary.
