Christopher Hill served as Ambassador to Iraq (2009-2010); Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs (2005-2009); concurrently, head of the U.S. Delegation to the Six-Party Talks on the North Korean nuclear issue; Ambassador to the Republic of Korea (2004-2005); Ambassador to Poland (2000-2004); Ambassador to the Republic of Macedonia (1996-1999), concurrently Special Envoy to Kosovo (1998-1999); Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director, National Security Staff (1999-2000).
Ambassador Hill also served as a member of the U.S. negotiating team for the Dayton accords; tours in Belgrade, Warsaw, Seoul and Tirana, as well as on the Policy Planning Staff and as Senior Country Director on the Poland desk. He speaks Polish, Serbo-Croatian and Macedonian.
Currently: Chief advisor to the chancellor for global engagement and professor of the practice in diplomacy at the University of Denver.
